Behind the Scenes: How I Handmake Jewellery & Resin Art at Vibrant Joy

Every handmade piece starts long before the resin is poured or the final detail is added.

For me, the process begins with a person, a feeling, a colour, a memory, or an idea I want to bring to life.

That is one of the things I love most about creating for Vibrant Joy. Every piece has the opportunity to become something personal and meaningful, rather than simply another product.

Step 1: Inspiration

Sometimes inspiration comes from nature.

Sometimes it comes from a customer asking for a particular colour, style or personal detail.

And sometimes it starts with the emotion behind the gift itself.

If I am creating something for a birthday, a keepsake, a piece of jewellery or a personalised homeware item, I often think about the person receiving it and what I want the piece to communicate.

Joy.

Encouragement.

Peace.

Love.

A memory.

A reminder.

That intention often shapes everything that follows.

Step 2: Choosing the Design and Colours

Colour is a huge part of the way I create.

I mix pigments, experiment with different combinations and think carefully about how the colours will work together.

Some pieces call for soft pinks and florals.

Others suit ocean blues, elegant neutrals, gold details or something bold and colourful.

When I am creating a personalised piece, I can also work with colours that reflect the recipient’s personality, home or favourite style.

Because the materials are mixed and placed by hand, no two finished pieces are ever completely identical.

That individuality is part of what makes handmade work so special.

Step 3: Pouring and Creating with Resin

Once the design is planned, the resin process begins.

Working with resin requires patience and attention to detail. The material needs time to mix, pour and cure correctly, and different decorative elements may be added depending on the design.

That might include:

• pressed flowers
• gold leaf
• pigments
• crystals
• shimmer
• personalised details

Some pieces require several stages or layers before the design is complete.

It is a slower process than mass production, but that is also what allows each piece to develop its own character.

Step 4: Finishing Each Piece by Hand

Once the resin has fully cured, the piece moves into the finishing stage.

Depending on what I am creating, this may involve polishing, assembling jewellery components, adding hardware or completing the final personalised details.

This is also when I carefully inspect the piece before it is prepared for its new home.

For jewellery, I assemble the components and make sure the finished piece is presented with the appropriate care information.

For larger resin pieces, finishing can take additional time because every edge and detail needs attention.

Step 5: Adding the Personal Touches

Personalisation is one of my favourite parts of the process because it can completely change the meaning of a piece.

A name.

An initial.

A favourite colour.

A meaningful word.

A scripture.

A detail connected to a memory.

These additions may look small, but they can be the very thing that turns a handmade item into something someone keeps for years.

Step 6: Preparing Your Order

Once everything is finished, I prepare each order carefully before it leaves Vibrant Joy.

Depending on the order, that may include gift packaging or a personal note.

I want opening a Vibrant Joy parcel to feel like receiving something that was genuinely made for you, because it was.

Why Handmade Matters to Me

Handmade is not about creating hundreds of identical pieces as quickly as possible.

It is about taking the time to create something with intention.

There are hands behind it.

There is thought behind it.

And often, there is a story behind it too.

My faith is also deeply connected to the way I create. I believe creativity can be a way of bringing encouragement, hope and God's love into someone's life, sometimes in ways we do not expect.

That is why the meaning behind a piece matters just as much to me as the way it looks.
